Silence Will Not Protect You: Womanism in the Age of Trump @ Carl A. Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding

A facilitated conversation by Ruha Benjamin between the organizers of the Women’s March in Washington.

This conversation will demonstrate how the women incorporate their different approaches with regard to social advocacy into working together towards a common goal. Carmen Perez, Linda Sarsour, and Tamika Mallory all served as Co-Chairs of the Women’s March on Washington in January 2017. Their personal histories and motivations for participating in and leading this event were very different, but they nonetheless collaborated to bring over 5 million women from across the globe together to march in support of gender equity and gender equality. Their conversation will shed light on how people with different backgrounds, values, and perspectives work together, as well as allyship in action.
